Domain Name Price Increases

As some may be aware, since domain names have gone up in price, we have absorbed the pricing until now.

With brexit in the loop, and currencies shifting we have no choice but to increase the price of domains.

As from 1st September 2017, new pricing will come into play.

.co.uk domains will be £15.00 per year.
.com domains will be £25.00 per year.
.net domains will be £15.00 per year.
.uk domains will be £25.00 per year.
.eu domains will be £20.00 per year.

Thank you for your continued support and business.

Supporting #FeeNotFree – No one should work for free!

We are proud to be supporting #FeeNotFree for freelancers, small businesses and skilled workers.

No one should work for free, the cause supports businesses to pay freelancers, small businesses and skilled workers for their services. Our friends at https://www.feenotfree.co.uk made their website to support the cause, so we are standing up with them.

As part of our support towards #FeeNotFree we now require a 50% deposit for all work we are hired to do. We have also had the free option when we did work as a small business where clients wouldn’t pay for services or work completed.

For example, you’re hiring a freelancer to design you a website. That web designer has get an idea of what you want, design the graphics for the website, put together a plan for it, then build it, test it, go back to the client for a review, and then make the changes. BUT… They also had to most likely pay to learn the skills, buy a multi-use theme to build the website from, install the website on server and get it set up, then take their time to get it right.

Websites can take a long time depending on clients needs and their uses.

You wouldn’t want to work for free, so why should they?

If you don’t pay for the services they have done, you are then effecting their business and life. They have bills like us all. This is why we are supporting the #FeeNotFree cause.

Please help spread the word, check out https://www.feenotfree.co.uk

Exciting Changes Ahead

It’s been a while since we last posted on the blog, so I’d like to update you all on some exciting new features, systems and news.

First off, we wanted to continue to improve our customer service relations with adding a support hub to provide answers and self-help to commonly asked questions. This is a project that’s currently being developed in the pipeline, this will also feature a new ticketing, live help and call-back feature for clients.

We are also improving our website hosting options by offering 3 main packages, which offer a fully-managed service to clients existing and new. Starting from 1GB SSD Disk Space for basic websites to 5GB SSD Disk Space for larger websites. The fully managed support allows you to get on with the day to day running of business, whilst our team ensures your website stays running at optimum performance.

For e-commerce websites, we offer bespoke packages up to 20GB SSD Disk Space which is also a fully managed service. It comes with unlimited e-mail accounts, FTP accounts, Lets Encrypt SSL Certificates and MYSQL Databases.

We are also in the process of migrating clients to our new account area, where clients can view their invoices, upgrade and downgrade packages and purchase add-on services.

Our domains lists are also extending with popular extensions such as .website, .london and .tv.

We have upgraded our server hardware with 4TB SSD’s and the latest DELL equipment, upgraded our uptime monitors and upgraded our off-site back up facilities too.

Finally, we are adding 14 more servers to our existing 7 by December 2017.

Look out for new blog posts from our marketing & support gurus.

5 Killer tricks for Super-Effective Google Adwords Ads

google-adwords
In my own opinion, writing Adwords ads can be a real pain. The reason – limited character space thus not being able to list all your benefits to your service nor can you use the word ‘click’. (Crazy right?)

To be in with the chance of standing out from your other competitors adverts, you need to get your thinking cap on and come up with something that fits and does the job.

How do you do it?

Below are 5 killer tricks for creating super-effective Adwords ads that will get higher click-through rates, higher Quality Scores and higher conversion rates.

1 – Get to the point – the visitor’s end goal is the point

Instead of using a title for example: Dealing with the flu?, you should use: Get rid of flu once & for all. This is what they’re looking to achieve. The title is precious, don’t waste it.

2 – Local ads

Many advertisers use one town or city when they are creating their AdWords campaigns. Many even advertise nationally. Show the viewer that your right around the corner by using more cities, towns and villages.

Having a free phone 0800 number is great, however when it comes to Adwords call extensions and landing pages but did you know, having phone numbers with geographic proximity to the visitor can double your conversion rates? It’s true!

Simply by creating geographic-specific AdWords campaigns and have your ad copy and call extensions specific to that geographic area as well, you can test its effectiveness on your adwords ads.

3 – Test, test & test again

With so many of your competitors worrying about 1,00’s of things other than writing better ads, these tricks will make your AdWords ads the best performing ads in the world.

4 – Making ads personal

Using words such as  “we,” “us,” “me,” “myself” and “I”? These words can fail to focus on the customer’s needs and can remove your chances of getting a click, they have also been found to hurt conversion rates on landing pages too.

5 – Use countdown timers to get the ‘click’.

It’s a known fact that if we are going to lose out on a deal, we will click the ad or trigger to find out more and to feel like the winners.

This commonly known psychological force is called loss aversion and it can be a powerful way of increasing your AdWords click-through and conversion rates.

Google has recently come out with a simple countdown timer you can set within your text ads. All you have to do is add this  snippet inside your headline or description:

{=

Then this popup will appear.

countdown

So what are you waiting for? Use these killer tricks and reap the rewards. Go!

A reminder about .uk Domain Price Increases

ukfamilylogos

.uk Price Increases

The body which oversees the .uk namespace has increased wholesale prices by a considerable amount this year.  This is to bring .uk domains closer to the pricing of other international domain names, as historically .uk domain names have been priced a lot lower than their international counterparts. The price changes will be in force from 01/03/2016.

Russell Haworth, Nominet CEO commented: ‘We’re committed to running a first class service for .UK registrants, including our renowned customer service, and we’re doing more than ever before to ensure the .UK space is a safe and trusted home for all.  But costs have risen considerably since we last changed the price, and we need to compete in a promotion-driven industry.  We won’t compromise on the quality of our service or dial back our efforts to counter cyber-threats head on.  However, it’s important to us that .UK domains represent value for money as well as quality, and the price we have set reflects that.”

The wholesale cost of .UK domain names for registrations of two years or more has not changed since 1999.  As part of the company’s commercial strategy, pricing will now be reviewed annually.

Retail prices for .UK domains are set by domain name registrars.

Nominet operates to deliver public benefit, primarily by operating a safe and secure .UK registry.  Alongside that, it plays an active part in the international internet community, and supports the Nominet Trust, its charitable foundation, which invests in initiatives that use technology to combat social challenges.
